Ben advances his career with a traineeship

He was working at Optus when his manager approached him about taking the next step and gaining his Certificate III in Business.

“I thought it was a great opportunity to gain a qualification and a lot of what I learnt sits so well with the job I’m doing now,” he said.

Ben is a sales associate at Optus, selling different products and helping customers solve problems.

“I really enjoy what I do. I’m a people person and I really enjoy helping people and meeting targets,” he said.

Ben said his study had inspired him to use the experience he was gaining to move up within Optus.

“There are definitely opportunities to advance your career here and if that leads to further study then that’s great,” he said.

Ben said he found the course through SWTAFE to be beneficial in his current role and the teachers were extremely helpful.

“I certainly gained a lot of knowledge and so much confidence. The teachers were always there when you needed assistance. I’d encourage anyone to give it a go.

“I found TAFE to be great. There are so many courses and so many options. The Certificate III in Business was perfect for me so I’m sure anyone can find a course there that’s perfect for them,” he said.
