Elijah’s passion for engineering earns him multiple awards
Elijah McLeod’s passion for fixing things and solving problems has helped him to gain the respect of his colleagues and teachers.
It has also helped him to win numerous awards along the way including the Apprentice of the Year at the 2018 South West TAFE Trades Award night.
He was also named Apprentice of the Year at South West TAFE’s Graduation and Awards ceremony in March.
Elijah is in the final year of his mechanical trade apprenticeship at Midfield Meats and is now contemplating further study.
“I was so inspired by my teachers. They were always encouraging me to continue to learn more and push the boundaries,” he said.
Elijah’s studies and work at Midfield have allowed him to improve his leadership skills with his enthusiasm and determination rubbing off on everyone around him.
“I found it to be so rewarding to come up with new ideas and see them put into practice,” he said.
South West TAFE engineering teacher Richard Voss said Elijah took on a mentoring role to the younger students in class who always enjoyed having him in the workshop.
Elijah now has his eyes set firmly on the future where he plans to develop his skills in futuristic engineering.
