Gap Year Traineeship in Individual Support Fuels Nursing Dreams
Indyana Sparrow accepted a place to study Bachelor of Nursing – Midwifery in Geelong but deferred for a year to undertake a traineeship at Western District Health Service.
"It’s been a great way to gain an insight into the healthcare industry and adjust to working full time. Plus, I’ve been able to earn money and gain a qualification, so it’s been a really valuable experience" says Indyana.
"I love spending time with the residents, hearing about their journey’s and being able to assist them with any issues they’re having" she says.
Indyana says she has learnt how to communicate in a healthcare setting and how to care for the elderly which is really going to help her next year.
"I’m looking forward to starting university next year and continuing to work in the individual support sector whilst I study".
