Jessica's interest in nail art leads her to embark on a new career

“I studied Certificate III in Beauty Services at the start of this year and I’ve now followed on from that to Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy,” she said.

Jessica said she was only interested in studying nails initially, but with guidance from her job network, she decided to enrol in Beauty Services, giving her a wider variety of skills.

She said that while nails were her first interest, this course had helped her to discover so many aspects of the beauty industry that she loved.

“What I love about beauty is seeing people’s faces when you finish. When the client sees the end result they always make you feel really good,” she said.

Jessica said she loved the training at TAFE and found the teachers to be really supportive.

“If you’ve got any barriers that you think are holding you back, they’re really supportive,” she said.

Jessica is hoping to gain part-time work in the beauty industry and in the future open her own business.
