Matthew makes a career change to follow his passion for information technology
Matthew had worked in fields including conservation and land management and hospitality before deciding to try to find work in a sector that he loved.
“It was time for a career change and I had always enjoyed IT and computers. I wanted to get a job in a field that I really loved,” he said.
Matthew studied a Certificate III in Information Technology at South West TAFE and said it was the best decision.
“It gave me a great opportunity to get qualified and job-ready,” he said.
Matthew said good friends and great teachers made his time at South West TAFE really enjoyable.
Since completing his course he has been employed at eResources in Warrnambool where he spends his time finding faults with photocopiers and changing parts.
While he continues to learn on the job, Matthew has a goal to one day become a server engineer or administrator.
Matthew said he was anxious about going back to study and making a career change but encouraged others to take the leap and follow their passions.
“I would just tell people that if they are in doubt they should just go for it. I’ve never had any regrets,” he said.
