Sean's traineeship leads to passion for the tourism industry
Sean completed a Certificate III in Tourism traineeship at the Warrnambool Visitor Information Centre and said he loved the skills he learnt along the way.
He said he had learnt to step out of his comfort zone and take on new challenges which included speaking to large groups about his traineeship with the hope of inspiring others to follow the same path.
“I learnt to become better at public speaking and ended up speaking to a few different large groups and also produced weekly videos promoting upcoming events,” he said.
Sean was awarded the 2019 Trainee of the Year at South West TAFE’s annual Graduation and Awards ceremony in March 2020 and said the skills he learnt during his studies would help him in whatever path he took in the future.
He said the skills he learnt during his studies had given him the confidence to follow his dream and join the Australian Army.
“Joining the Army has always been on my mind and the current pandemic made me realise that now was the perfect time to give back to my country,” he said.
He said tourism would remain a passion and was sure it was an industry he would find his way back to in the future.
