Skye to bring two passions together

Skye Henry-Litster has used her cultural heritage and passion to assist with her work and studies at Warrnambool’s Flagstaff Hill.

She completed her Certificate III in Tourism as a trainee at Flagstaff Hill and the Warrnambool Visitor Information Centre last year and has been successful in gaining continued employment.

During her traineeship Skye helped to create a new database and induction sessions for all new volunteers.
She said during her traineeship she was also lucky to have the opportunity to create an Aboriginal tour around Warrnambool.

“I was able to use my local knowledge and include the city’s Indigenous highlights on a visitor tour which was great,” she said.

Skye said she started a university course in Animal Science and Zoology before studying tourism at South West TAFE and was now hoping to bring her two passions together.

“I love sustainability and wildlife conservation and I’m looking into further study that could lead to a park ranger or Landcare role,” she said.

Skye said her training had taught her valuable communication and customer service skills that would help her with whatever she did in the future.

She said she was so excited to win the highly commended Koorie Student of the Year award at South West TAFE’s Graduation and Awards ceremony in March.
