South West TAFE's outstanding students recognised
Students from a wide range of courses including hairdressing, tourism, parks and gardens, agriculture and nursing took out this year’s top awards.
South West TAFE CEO Mark Fidge said the awards night was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the success of our students.
Mr Fidge said these students were nominated by their teachers and then interviewed by a panel to decide winners across six categories.
“It is such a huge honour for these students who have all excelled in their studies and have all gone on to be working in their fields and doing amazing things in the community,” he said.
Award winners on the night were:
- Vocational Student of the Year: Fiona Madden (Tourism)
- Koorie Student of the Year: Jessica Chatfield (Hairdressing)
- Trainee of the Year: Meg Reuel (Tourism)
- Apprentice of the Year: Stephanie Pemberton (Parks and Gardens)
- School-Based Trainee of the Year: Noah Convey (Agriculture)
- Deakin University Pathways Award: Karen Claffey (Nursing)
Mr Fidge said it was wonderful to hear so many of our outstanding student award winners now in employment in their chosen fields or going on to further study.
“It’s great that South West TAFE can play a part in changing people’s lives and leading them on to further study or employment,” he said.
Each of these students will now go forward to represent South West TAFE at the Victorian Training Awards to be held later this year.
