SWTAFE top students recognised at Pure awards
Pure Academy’s top hair, beauty, massage and nail technology students were awarded before they showed off their creative talents on the catwalk at this year’s annual event at Brother Fox at Deakin University.
SWTAFE Hair, Beauty and Massage Senior Educator Kathy Hall said the night was a fantastic opportunity to reward the students for their hard work throughout their training.
She said the training the students received at Pure Academy prepared them well for the workforce and the showcase was just one part of building their confidence and imagination as they presented their work to be scrutinised.
“It’s also a chance for them to show off their creativity and let their artistic flair shine as opposed to the commercial salon work they are used to producing,” she said.
“They’ve done an amazing job and it’s a culmination of all of their work for the year and shows the skills they’ve gained and their improvement,” she said.
Mrs Hall said the event had been running for 10 years and it was a way of showcasing the students’ work in a competitive, yet encouraging environment and honouring the top students.
SWTAFE Business, Design and Personal Services Teaching Manager Marcia McCarthy said the showcase and awards night was an occasion to recognise SWTAFE’s students and many industry partners.
She said Pure Academy had gone from strength to strength with more than 250 enrolments this year across hair, beauty, nails and massage courses.
“Our state-of-the-art facilities, along with our industry collaboration, provide our students with the opportunity to build their skills in an industry standard learning environment,” she said.
