Young retail butcher apprentice finds his perfect career

/ Success Story
After starting an after-school position at Floral Hill Quality Meats Liam soon realised it was an industry he wanted to pursue a career in.

I really enjoyed going in after school and cleaning so I decided to do a school based-apprenticeship.  It wasn’t long before I was offered an apprenticeship as a retail butcher. I was 15 when I started and it’s been the best decision.

I love the interactions with customers and the other staff. It’s been great that I can do my training on the job and have my teacher come to Bendigo to assist with my training.

The apprenticeship has also given me the opportunity to compete in a couple of competitions which has been a valuable experience.

Working as an apprentice butcher really brings me joy and there’s always something new to learn, it’s a great industry to be a part of.
