The Portland campus offers a wide variety of innovative training and educational programs that have been implemented to support the needs of the industries and individuals of the local community.
In August 2010, the Portland campus underwent an impressive $5.2 million upgrade and expansion.
The campus now boasts sophisticated maritime instruments, an automotive workshop, pneumatics and hydraulics mobile training aids, and a simulated kindergarten playground.
Our new facilities and equipment have allowed us to become an integral part of the Portland community and enabled you to learn on-the-job skills using the latest technology.
From the engineering department to the computer classrooms, equipment and software are frequently updated to ensure you develop your knowledge and skills using the latest methods and the most up to date technology available.
The atmosphere at the campus is both friendly and inviting. The teaching and administration staff are easily accessible and are always willing to provide the support and guidance needed to ensure you get the most from your studies.
The story of the Portland campus began with the establishment of the Portland Technical College.
Then, following amalgamation in 1987 with Warrnambool and Hamilton Technical Colleges, in 1988 the campus was relocated to the existing site on Hurd Street.
The new facilities included a metals training shed, administration office and general-purpose classroom.
From 1995 - 1999 the facilities were upgraded and expanded to create new classrooms, student amenities, administration offices, computer laboratories, a library, video conferencing facilities, and an electrotechnology laboratory.
Beyond this, the campus has continued to grow. The first decade of the 21st century has seen a number of notable developments including a Computer Numerical Control Technology Centre, the introduction of automotive, building, maritime and plastics training, and a horticultural studies compound.
Our equipment and software is frequently updated, ensuring that you develop your knowledge and skills using the latest methods and the most up to date technology available.
