Considering a career in furniture making, cabinet Making or obtaining skills in bespoke furniture trades?
This course will provide you with the ideal place to get a taste for the furniture and the cabinet making industry.
During this course, you will become skilled in the use of hand and power tools and learn about safety, timber joints and construction, assembly and the operation of woodworking machinery.
One of the primary advantages of this course is that the skills it teaches can be broadly applied to anything from furniture making, cabinetry and basic built projects. It also provides an excellent pathway to an apprenticeship in the cabinet making or carpentry industries.
This course will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills to prepare you for work or further study within the Cabinet Making industry.
The course content is based around building a 'real life' furniture and cabinetry from start to finish which will give you a sound knowledge to kick off your career in the cabinet making industry.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be equipped with the foundation skills to continue further study in the cabinet making industry as an apprentice.

This course involves accredited units. You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes to meet the course outcomes. A combination of written, oral and practical assessment strategies will be used in either a classroom, online or workplace environment.
Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms. Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance. You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.
