Begin your career in the building and construction industry with a carpentry apprenticeship.
During this apprenticeship, you will develop a range of hands-on skills to work within the construction industry as a residential or commercial carpenter.
With a combination of on the job training and block releases, you will gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience in all aspects of carpentry. You will learn how to work in a team while ensuring quality craftsmanship and safety are adhered to.
The course includes hands-on experience with theory and practical components, which will assist you while you are employed in the construction industry.

Upon successful completion, you will be a qualified carpenter enabling you to gain employment in the construction industry in both domestic and commercial sectors.
You may choose to continue study to become a qualified builder with the Certificate IV Building and Construction.

You must be employed as an apprentice with a registered employer in the construction industry, in either a domestic or commercial setting.

This course involves accredited units. You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes to meet the course outcomes. A combination of written, oral and practical assessment strategies will be used in either a classroom, online or workplace environment.
Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms. Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance. You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.
