Are you already in the building and construction industry? Would you like to step up into supervisory role? Maybe you’re a tradesperson hoping to become a subcontractor or business owner. If this sounds like you, why not take the next step in your career?
This post-trade qualification will give you the skills you need to achieve your career aspirations! It will qualify you to supervise low-rise residential building projects and assist in the application for a registered builder licence.
Successful completion of this qualification will support your application for registration to the Victorian Building Authority.
Notably, this qualification is run in conjunction with the Master Builders Association Victoria (MBAV) using training resources produced by them.
This qualification will provide you with the skills to manage construction sites, supervise or create your own building business. These skills include:
Two evenings a week via virtual classroom* and one day a month on campus.
Four-hour virtual classes on Monday evenings and a two-hour virtual workshop on Wednesday evenings. Plus one Friday class a month at Sherwood Park.
*Virtual classroom - classes will be delivered via virtual classroom - a live online teaching and learning environment where teachers and students can present course materials, engage and interact with one another, and work in groups together.
Upon completion of this course, you may continue further study in the building and construction industry at Diploma level.

To apply for this course you must have completed a construction trade qualification and have three
years of practical experience in the building industry.
You will require a computer with Microsoft Office, a microphone and a Webcam with access to an internet connection.
To be eligible for this qualification you must successfully complete 19 units: 11 core and 8 elective units.

This course involves accredited units. You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes to meet the course outcomes. A combination of written, oral and practical assessment strategies will be used in either a classroom, online or workplace environment.
Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms. Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance. You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.
Once you have applied for your chosen course, you will receive a thank you email from South West TAFE with a few steps to help process your enrolment.
